Nancy Mattingly paints in watercolor, acrylics, pastels and oil. She has been a member of Highland Art Gallery since 2023. She enjoys painting all subject matter in various media. Her preference is portraits and animals in oil and watercolor. She also paints on granite. Nancy takes advantage of the many workshops offered in the Hill Country including Highland Art Gallery, the Llano Art Gallery and Buchanan Art Gallery. She attributes her success in watercolor to her instructor Betty Bielser. She has attended a workshop in Cloudcroft New Mexico to help polish her skills in watercolor.

Nancy loves photography and takes many photos around the Highland Lakes area where the photo shoots are unlimited. Her travels to Italy, Japan, Scotland, England, Turkey and recently Ireland had given her inspiration for her paintings. Nancy’s work has been displayed in First State Bank of Burnet, the First State Bank of Kingsland, Cadence Bank in Kingsland and Llano National Bank at Buchanan Dam. There are also paintings at Granite Shoals City Hall. She has displayed her work at the Kingsland Library for their Art Exhibit which runs through October each year. Her paintings are on display year round at Buchanan Arts Gallery. She has won blue ribbons in the Burnet County Art Festival.

Nancy designed and painted the art for her husband’s two books which he has written on the work that he did on the Shroud of Turin. Nancy has found great satisfaction in painting and paints anytime that she finds time. She enjoys the fellowship and friendships she has developed with her fellow artists near and far and hopes to continue painting as it is her passion. She has many artist friends who are painting into their nineties and finds them a great inspiration.
