Betty Bielser

Betty Bielser switched from painting in oils to watercolor about 40 years ago and has not been disappointed since. She believes that watercolor is the oldest, most versatile of all mediums and she's amazed at how many different styles it affords the artist. Betty said, "I enjoy trying new techniques and can't imagine ever getting bored with it."

Studying under many well-known watercolor artists, Betty developed a passion for learning. But, she says, "The best way to learn is by teaching, which I have been doing since 2002." She's written two workbooks, "One Step at a Time -Watercolor for Beginners" "One Step at a Time - Watercolor Portraits, which she sells and uses in teaching workshops.

Most of her paintings are created in her studio from photographs she takes. Betty's favorite subjects are Texas wildflowers, Hill Country  landscapes, wild and domestic animals and Western scenes. She is particularly fond of painting portraits from photographs or models.

Several years ago, Betty found the joy of painting Plein Air, (outdoors). Now she enters juried competitions around Texas and has won two first places and a second.

Many of Betty's paintings have found their way into private and commercial collections around the world. She displays her work at Highland Arts Guild/Gallery in Marble Falls and in businesses and bank lobbies around the area. She is also a member of Buchanan Arts and Crafts Gallery and the Texas Watercolor Society.

Please contact Betty for commissioned requests, private lessons, workshops and classes through the Gallery or at 512-755-2582.
