I was born in Houston, Texas and began drawing "outside the lines" at an early age. I studied life drawing and beginning painting at Lowell Collins Academy between the ages of 12 and 15. I studied landscape architecture at Texas A&M University, and afterward enjoyed a 31 year career in Houston, Austin and Marble Falls, doing landscape design, installation and irrigation.
After retiring in 2009, I returned to my passion for oil painting. I have had the privilege of broadening my knowledge and honing my skills with many professional artists, such as Dalhart Windberg, Gay Faulkenbury, Vicki McMurry, Bob Rohm, Vie Dunn-Harr, Ann Templeton, Anthony Gonzales, Kathy Tate, Carol Marine, Donna Bland and Barry McCuan. I sincerely appreciate their patience with me.
I attempt to convey an emotional as well as visual aspect of my subject through color, brushwork and composition and continue my art education through workshops with other artists and the never-ending study of nature.
