The subject of most of my paintings is the Texas Hill Country, with bluebonnets being my specialty. I was born in Smithwick, a small community in Burnet County, just east of Marble Falls. I spent most of my life there and graduated from Marble Falls High School.

I was interested in art many years before I started painting in 1975. That same year, I joined the Highland Arts Guild and Gallery.  I have held many offices there and served as chairman of numerous committees.

I have learned much from the many workshops and demos at the Guild. Workshops with Frank Covino, David Slade, Mark Pettit, Kay Walton and others helped me develope my personal style.

In 1988, I began teaching oil painting classes to beginners. This has given me great satisfaction to be able to learn from teaching. It is very rewarding to see my students displaying and selling their paintings.
